So far the 15th annual VIMFF mountain photography competition has been a resounding success. There are over 333 photos from as far afield as Pakistan, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. The submissions are going to Jury on Thursday, January 26th and we are excited to see the results. One thing is certain, the jury doesn't have an easy job because the quality of submissions was so high overall. Stay tuned for more news. The finalists will be displayed during VIMFF in mid February.

In the spirit of International Mountain Day 2011 Climb For Change is proud to present the 15th Annual Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival Mountain Photography Competition. The competition runs until January 15th and the winners will be announced at VIMFF in February 2012. This is a great opportunity for all photographers to present their mountain photography to the public and win some great prizes. It is a forum for the sharing of imagery and the exchange of ideas between photographers, mountaineers, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF) is thrilled to offer the VIMFF 2011 Fall Series with slide presentations and films. World class local and international guest speakers and climbing films will be featured as part of this program spanning over three days on November 15-17, 2011. The scope of this program is to celebrate the adventurous heart, offer exciting programming, bring together the local outdoor communities, and keep alive the film festival mission. Hello all!!
I'm back home now (I'm inthe middle of the pic!), near Cardiff, after we completted our fundraising challenge on the 26th Aug, at Ben Nevis.
In total we cycled 450miles, and climbing the 3 Peaks in 15 hours.
It was a gruelling challenge that threw up many testing situations. We nearly ended up on a motorway just into Scotland on Day 4! Which turned out to be the hardest days ride, as we made our way uphill for around 70miles, before descending through some wonderful valleys to the campsite. I just received a notice from the Climbers Access Society of BC (CASBC) about the new Gondola proposal for Squamish.
According to GroundEffects Development (the company that has made the proposal), the new gondola would be a "key piece of tourism infrastructure in Squamish that would drive economic growth and create jobs through expansion of the town's tourism sector, and further solidify Squamish as the outdoor recreation capital of Canada."
While this is not the first gondola to be proposed in Squamish (all previous proposals had been shut down by the community...
