Water Climb will take place from March 25th to April 5th, 2012, and marks the third year that climbers from around the world will make their way up Mount Kilimanjaro, to raise funds and awareness for Water School, an organization providing education on clean water sanitation & hygiene in Africa and Haiti.
The Water Climb journey begins with visits to projects in a Nairobi slum, giving participants an opportunity to see the Water School program firsthand. This stark look at the realities of life without clean water provides motivation and inspiration for the climb ahead. From Nairobi, Kenya, participants then head to base camp in Tanzania where they begin their six day trek.
Access to clean drinking water should have no borders and Water Climb participants reflect that. In past years, both men and women coming from places such as Switzerland, Taiwan, Israel, Canada and the U.S., being as young as 15 and as old as 65 have succeed in reaching the summit. Last year, climbers raised enough money to provide 10,000 people with the Water School program and this year the goal is to bring the program to 20,000 more.

About Water School
Water School is an International Development Organization that provides simple, safe, and sustainable clean water solutions to the world’s most vulnerable people who are mainly children. Since 2007, 400,000 people now have access to safe drinking water, improved sanitation and an education in hygiene. Through a proven water treatment technology called Solar Disinfection (SODIS), children and their families are given the tools and training to access to clean water not for a few weeks or months, but for life.
